Our StorY

Church for us is more than just a weekend experience. It’s God’s people filled with light, illuminating the darkness in their circles of context and spheres of influence. We believe this light to be contagious and that it can impact others around us. Our testimony is a pivotal reminder of how that light breaks through even the darkest moments.

On Friday, January 21, 2005, an airplane carrying our pastor’s parents, who also served as the lead pastors of what was then Parkway Baptist Church, crashed killing everyone instantly. The devastation of this moment shook the foundation of our church to its core. Still, we believe God takes what was meant for evil and turns it for good.


He used this excruciating grief for His glory, setting in motion a divine plan that is helping transform our city one life at a time. Out of the ashes of tragedy, City of Truth Church triumphantly emerged by the grace and sovereignty of our Lord as a home of refuge, comforting the wounded with the comfort it itself had received from God.


Through engaging worship, relevant teaching, powerful prayer, and gracious community we are experiencing exponential growth both numerically and spiritually as a family of faith. Our unique story, even while birthed in agony, has offered us the great privilege of suffering with Jesus affording us the esteemed honor it is to celebrate with Him souls added to His body.

Our Pastors

Pastor AD3

Pastor Armour Stephenson III, better known as Pastor AD3, is the Lead Pastor of The City KC Church. A respected spiritual leader, musician, and community leader, he is dedicated to serving the needs of the greater Kansas City area. He is committed to unconditional outreach and leads the congregation of The City KC Church with integrity and excellence.


Pastor AD3 began pastoring The City KC Church at the age of 22. Under his leadership, it has become one of the fastest-growing churches in the region and continues to experience remarkable growth.

Pastor Jessica

Jessica Stephenson is the wife of Pastor AD3, and pastors The City KC Church alongside her husband. A Christian woman of virtue, poise, and grace, Pastor Jessica is known for the love and wisdom she pours unreservedly to The City KC Church.


Jessica’s passion is ministering to the broken and hurting, and assisting them in reaching spiritual and emotional wholeness. Using her life experiences as the backdrop to her ministry she inspires people to fulfill the call God has on their lives.

Our Beliefs

THE BIBLE

The Bible is God’s Word to all people. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. Because it was inspired by God, the Bible is truth without any mixture of error and is completely relevant to our daily lives.
THE TRINITY

God has existed in relationship with Himself for all eternity. He exists as one substance in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Although each member of the Trinity serves different functions, they each possess equal power and authority.
THE FATHER

God is great: He is all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present, unchanging, completely worthy of our trust, and above all, Holy. It is in Him that we live, move, and exist. God is good. He is our Father. He is loving, compassionate, and faithful to His people and His promises.
THE SON

Jesus Christ is completely human but, at the same time, completely God. He is the only plan for bringing people who are far from God back into a right relationship with God. He lived a perfect life, so that He could be a substitution for us in satisfying God’s demands for perfection. He defeated death in His resurrection so that we can have life.
THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit’s presence assures us of our relationship with Christ. He guides believers into all truth and exalts Christ. He convicts people of their sin, God’s righteousness, and the coming judgment. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and makes us more like Christ.
ETERNITY

Man was created to exist forever. He will exist either eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is Heaven. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence.
MAN

Man is made in the image of God and is the supreme object of His creation. Man was created to have fellowship with God but became separated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man cannot attain a right relationship with God through his own effort. Every human personality is uniquely created, possesses dignity, and is worthy of respect and Christian love.
SALVATION

The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way of salvation through the forgiveness of sin. Salvation occurs when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation is a gift from God, and it cannot be earned through our own efforts.
THE CHURCH

The Church is a local community of baptized believers unified through faith in Christ. It is committed to the teachings of Christ and obeying all of His commands, and it seeks to bring the Gospel to the world. The Church works together in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ.
SPIRITUAL GIFTS

We believe in Jesus Christ as the sovereign giver of spiritual gifts to the church. We believe spiritual gifts are given for the perfecting of the Saints, for the work of the ministry, and for the edification of the body of Christ.
MARRIAGE

We believe God has ordained and created marriage to exist between one man and one woman with absolute marital fidelity. We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning – the uniting of one man and one woman in a single exclusive union as delineated in scripture (Genesis 2:18 – 25).
